Legislation that would permanently ban disclosure of information about concealed weapons permit holders drew a large crowd to a public hearing before the Judiciary Committee today. LD 345 “An Act To Ensure the Confidentiality of Concealed Weapons Permit Holder Information” follows legislation that Governor LePage passed as “emergency legislation” last month, after a reporter for the Bangor Daily News requested records under a Freedom of Information request. The so-called emergency legislation expires in April. The bill heard today aims to make those changes permanent.
